On Windows 11 or 10 PCs, you can allow or disallow users from using fullscreen mode in the Microsft Edge browser using two methods: Local Group Policy Editor or Registry Editor. By tweaking the registry or applying a group policy, you can take control of the full-screen mode in the Microsoft Edge browser.

How to Permit or Prevent Users from using Full-Screen Mode in Edge using Registry Editor?

Follow these Registry steps to allow or disallow users from using full-screen mode in the Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 11 or 10:-

Step 1. Very first, launch Registry Editor.

Step 2. Next, steer for the following key in the left pane of the Registry Editor:-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft

Quick Note: If you want to apply this policy only to the current user account, then follow this path:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft

Step 3. Now, right-click on the Microsoft key in the left sidebar and choose New > Key options.

Step 4. After that, set the name to Edge.

Step 5. Now, right-click on the Edge key and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value option.

Step 6. This time, name the newly created REG_DWORD to FullscreenAllowed.

Step 7. Once done, double-click on the FullscreenAllowed REG_DWORD and set its “Value data” to the following:-

  • 0 = To prevent opening Edge in full-screen mode.
  • 1 = To permit opening Edge in full-screen mode.

Step 8. After that, click the OK button.

Step 9. To take effect of the change, restart your computer.

How to Allow or Stop Users from using Full-Screen Mode in Edge on Windows 11 or 10 through Group Policy Editor?

To allow or disallow users from using full-screen mode in Edge on Windows 11 or 10 through Group Policy, follow these steps:-

Step 1. First, launch Local Group Policy Editor.

Step 2. Next, steer for the following path in the left sidebar of the Local Group Policy Editor:-

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge

Step 3. On the right pane, double-click on the Allow full screen mode setting.

Step 4. Then, choose Disabled option.

Step 5. Then, click the Apply button.

Step 6. After that, click the OK button.

Step 7. Finally, reboot your computer to apply the changes.

Using any method, you can stop users from opening the Edge browser in full-screen mode.

To allow Edge to open in full-screen mode, repeat the above steps and select the Enabled or Not Configured option. Then, click Apply/OK button.
