How to Block Users from changing Color and Appearance in Windows 11 or 10?

While it is an important feature, you might want to restrict the ability of users to change the Colors setting. For example, you are working for a company that wants all devices to look and feel the same. You might also want to set a specific color on your computer so that nobody else can change it.

No matter what the reason may be, Windows 11 and 10 allow you to prevent users from changing the color appearance of the desktop. Either use Group Policy or Register Editor.

How to Prevent Users from Changing Color and Appearance in Windows 11 using Registry Editor?

You can stop or prevent users from changing color or appearance in Windows 11 using Registry Editor. To do so, follow the steps below:-

Step 1. Open Registry Editor.

Step 2. When Registry Editor opens, browse to the following key in the left side navigation pane:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

Step 3. Now, right-click on the Policies key and choose New > Key.

Step 4. Set the name System.

Step 5. Now, right-click on the System key and pick New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 6. Set the name to NoDispAppearancePage.

Step 7. Next, double-click on the NoDispAppearancePage REG_DWORD and set its “Value data” to 1.

Step 8. Click the OK button.

Step 9. Finally, restart your PC to apply the changes.

In Windows 11 and 10, other users will not be able to change the Color and Appearance after you complete these steps.

How to Stop Users from Changing Color and Appearance in Windows 11 or 10 through Group Policy?

In Windows 11 and 10, you can prevent users from changing color and appearance by using Group Policy:-

Step 1. Open Local Group Policy Editor.

Step 2. Then, navigate to the following path in the left side navigation pane:-

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization

Step 3. On the right sidebar, double-click on the policy name “Prevent changing color and appearance.”

Step 4. Select the Enabled option.

Step 5. Click the Apply button.

Step 6. Click the OK button.

Step 7. To apply the changes, restart your computer.

After completing the steps above, other users will not be able to change your computer’s Color and Appearance.
