How to Hide Bing Search in the Windows 10 Start Menu?

Whenever you type something in the Start menu, it will automatically send every request to Bing search servers to return relevant results.

This behavior of Windows 10 can be turned off if you are running the May 2020 Update or later. This tweak will also disable the Microsoft Edge advertisements that appear in the Start menu when you search for Chrome. Additionally, this tweak will disable Cortana so that Bing integration is turned off.

How to Turn Off Bing Search in the Windows 10 Start Menu?

To remove Bing Search in the Windows 10 Start menu, use these steps:-

Step 1. First, open Registry Editor.

Step 2. Navigate to the following key in the left side navigation pane of the Registry Editor window:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

Step 3. Right-click the Windows folder, and then click New > Key.

Step 4. Assign the newly created key name Explorer.

Step 5. Then, right-click on the Explorer folder and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 6. Set the REG_DWORD to DisableSearchBoxSuggestions.

Step 7. To edit the “Value data” for the DisableSearchBoxSuggestions REG_DWORD, double-click on it.

Step 8. Enter 1 in the “Value data” field.

Step 9. Click the OK button.

Step 10. Next, navigate to the following path in the Registry Editor:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search

Step 11. Right-click on the Search key and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 12. Set the name BingSearchEnabled.

Step 13. Double-click on the newly created REG_DWORD BingSearchEnabled to modify its “Value data.”

Step 14. Set the “Value data” to 0

Step 15. Click the OK button.

Step 16. Again, right-click on the Search key in the left sidebar and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 17. Set the name CortanaConsent.

Step 18. Double-click on the newly created CortanaConsent REG_DWORD and set its “Value data” to 0.

Step 19. To apply the changes, restart your PC.

The Bing search engine will no longer display results when searching for items on Windows 10 Start Menu.
