Step 1. First, open Task Manager.

Step 2. When the Task Manager appears on your computer, switch to the Processes tab.

Step 3. Next, locate the Windows Explorer process, right-click on it and select the Restart option.

To restart File Explorer in Windows 11 or 10 using a batch file, do these steps:-

Step 1. First, open a Notepad file on your PC and then copy the following lines and paste it into that:-

@echo off
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
start explorer.exe

Step 2. After that, click on File menu and choose Save as option in the drop-down list.

Step 3. Next, choose the desired location on your PC where you want to save this batch file and then do the following:-

  • Write RestartExplorer.bat in front of File name textbox.
  • Select All Files option from the Save as type drop-down menu.

Step 4. When you’re done, click on the Save button.

That’s it.

Next time you need to restart the File Explorer, just double-click on the batch file you created. There is no need to open the task manager and search for the Windows Explorer process to restart the File Explorer on your PC.
